BIOGRAPHY |
I am a musician, artist, photographer, and visual arts instructor living in Toronto, Canada. My passion for music began when I discovered an accordion in my grandmother’s basement. Heartening my enthusiasm, my parents enrolled me in the academy. Once in high school, I came to realize accordion players were not in high demand for any bands. So, I studied piano, saved up for an analog synthesizer, and joined just about any kind of band I could, ranging from post-punk and rock, to jazz and music theatre. I even started writing and recorded a couple demo cassettes. Nearing the end of my teenage years, most of my musician friends had matured and opted for more sensible career paths. Finding myself without a band, I followed my creative drive for visual arts, and studied Art & Art History at University of Toronto and Sheridan College. It was during this time that I was sparked by a keen interest in Photography and started to explore the curious relationship between humans and rapidly changing technology, which would later influence themes in my song-writing. After graduation I worked as a photographer and conceptual artist, exhibiting my work at public galleries and artist-run centres. My photography took me to many interesting places around the world, including a two-year adventure in Africa, where I worked with journalists in Zimbabwe and surrounding countries. These experiences also informed my song-writing. Later in life, I became a visual arts instructor. I also found my way back to music, took up bass and guitar, and played with a few bands locally. After some time, I found myself without a band again, and few musicians to play with. Faced with this predicament, I practiced the hell out of all my instruments, and worked hard to develop my voice. I am now a multi-instrumental musician and song-writer. I write, perform, record, produce and engineer my albums independently, in my own studio. At present, I have completed SIX solo albums. When I have time, I try to produce music videos. I also do photo and design work for other musicians in the industry. I am extremely thankful for all the support from my loving (and patient) wife and three children, who have also developed a keen interest in music. Thanks for listening, and enjoy!
